Search for Mardave Replacement Motors

Search for Mardave Replacement Motors

Postby rvrcccc1 » Fri Jan 29, 2010 9:57 am

We are currently looking at possible options for an alternative motor to the Mardave G2.
Reasons for this are that the latest batch seem to run ok for a few weeks then drop off severly.
The Mardave brushless seems expensive and awkward to setup due to being overpowered.

Current Options being looked at are :-

Brushed = HPI Firebolt 15 turn =

Fors = Readily available from many Model shops and ebay, Retail price is less than £8
Against = Some people will have to change their speed controler, dont yet know how long they will last.

Brushless = Hobbywing EZRUN 17.5 turn =

Fors = Low maintenance, will last several years with little loss in performance.Easy to setup.
Against = Cost could be as much as £64 for the Combo (Motor,ESC & Setup card). Not yet available from Model shops only from ebay or direct.

I think we still have a way to go on this subject and anyone with an Idea would be welcome to let me know.

Personally I like ez run systems, they are cheap and work really well, Cheadle Club recommend the 10th 9t for touring cars, I have used the 18th system (which I run in my recoil) , the 9T and the 5.5t in touring cars and buggies, they are not the fastest but they are very good value for money. The 17.5 seems like a good deal.

Perhaps 2 championships? one for brushed and one for brushless???

Anyway food for thought.
